First two weeks

Oh goodness, where did the time go? I know everyone says that but it really does seem like he was just born and we were all in the hospital together, but Monday will be three weeks?! We are so in love with our precious monkey! It's true what they say that you will never imagine the kind of love you will feel until you hold your first baby in your arms. Everyday we ask each other how did we deserve such a sweet and perfect gift from above. Here is what we have been up to:

His first Pediatrician visit. He weighed 5 lbs 10 oz and Dr said he was a strong and healthy boy!

Caleb's first "sponge" bath at home which he really enjoyed and didn't cry or fuss at all.

First Onesie

Burp Time!

Nap Time

Play time on the activity mat

Aunt Jamie visits:)

Just a swinging...

Enjoying the bouncer from Nana

Hanging out with Memaw

Caleb James Brewer

To say our hearts our full would be an understatement! We are completely in love with our little guy and never imagined the love and overwhelming joy we felt when he was born. Here is his birth story:

We went in on Sunday night (7/8) to start the induction process. I was put on Cervadil to help thin my cervix and was told it might start contractions but mainly the pitocin would start the contractions in the morning. Boy were they wrong! I started having major contractions about an hour after it was inserted. Poor Chris he was a trooper and stayed up with me most of the night because I couldn't sleep at all since the pain was so bad! The nurse finally removed the Cervadil around 1:30 but the contractions kept coming with the same severity. With the contractions being so constant, the nurse couldn't start the pitocin at 5 am which was what Dr. G had ordered. There was supposed to be a two hour break between the Cervadil and Pitocin to give Caleb some time to rest before the major contractions started. The nurse called Dr. G around 6:30 and Dr. G said to go ahead and start the Pitocin on the smallest dose. Let me just say MAJOR contractions started at this point! I would have strong contractions every 2-3 minutes back to back, then there would be a short break and then start back again. Dr. G came in to check me at 7:30 and I was only 1/2 a centimeter dialated. To say I was upset was an understatement. Dr. G suggested I go ahead and get the epidural since I was in so much pain and it would give me time to rest since I didn't sleep the night before. I felt so much better that i slept for at least 3 hours! While I was sleeping they were increasing the Pitocin every 30 minutes to try and get me to dialate. Dr. G came back around 12:30 to check me and I had only progressed to 1 cm. With the severity and consistency of the contractions plus the overnight laboring, most people would have been at least 4-6 cm by then. Dr. G said it probably wasn't going to happen naturally and suggested we re-route for a c-section. After all the pain and laboring I had been through and the little progress I had made, I knew deep down that it wasn't going to happen either and I didn't want to jeoperdize Caleb. We agreed to the c-section and Dr. G scheduled it for 4 pm. We went in at 4:15 and our little man was born at 4:35 pm:) He weighed 6 lbs 3 oz and was 19.25" long.  He came out screaming and crying and was even more perfect than we imagined!

Oh my goodness I will never forget the emotions I went through as I watched the nurses clean him up and his Daddy look at him for the first time. I just layed there and thanked God for this healthy baby boy and the blessing that he chose us to care for him! I still can't believe that he is ours and we get to spend the rest of our lives with him:)

We were in the hospital until Thursday afternoon so we had a lot of visitors! Thank you to everyone who came by the hospital to see us or who we spoke to over the phone. Also thank you for all the wonderful texts we received as well! We are so humbled by all of our family and friends prayers and support during this time.

36 Weeks

I'm a little behind on posts but plan on getting caught up soon! At our 36 week appointment we had our last sonogram. It was the last time we got to see our guy until we would meet in person:) He was positioned head down and weighed 5 lbs 12 oz. Since his head was down and turned, we couldn't get a good shot of his face, but we got plenty of his feet and little bottom! His heart rate sounded great and was around 145 on average from the fetal monitor.

At the end of the week was Debbie's birthday so we went out to eat at Pappasitos to celebrate!! Yummy! It was so good! We enjoyed celebrating the special day with Debbie on her actual birthday, June 29.
